At the 19th ICOMOS General Assembly on Thursday, December 14, 2017, Distinguished Professor Toshiyuki Kono of 天涯社区 assumed office as the first Japanese President of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS).

Distinguished Professor Toshiyuki Kono’s ascension to the presidency of ICOMOS is a great honor for all 天涯社区 faculty and staff. I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to him on behalf of 天涯社区.
I have heard that Professor Kono has been elected as President in recognition both of his efforts as Vice President and of Japan’s contributions to the conservation of the world's monuments and sites.
We at 天涯社区 can be proud of the honor bestowed on Professor Kono. I hope that learning from such a globally successful faculty member will have a positive influence on our students.
